doesn’t shock you—it just confirms everything you’ve been screaming into the void for years?

This bitch. Nadia Boucher. A name that should now live in infamy, not obscurity.

This isn’t just a dance teacher. This isn’t just an “oopsie” moment of forgetfulness. This is a masterclass in white entitlement wrapped in pastel leotards and weaponized hugs.

👀 Here’s What Happened:

At a recent competition, a group of young dancers stood on stage after performing. Coach Nadia handed out hugs to her white students, one by one. Warm, affirming, familiar.

And then there was Shaniah—six years old. The only Black (bi-racial) girl in the lineup.

She stepped forward.
Arms open. Heart open.
And Nadia? She walked the fuck away.
Refused to hug her. Refused to acknowledge her.

This wasn’t a miss. This wasn’t a slip.
This was deliberate, cold, public rejection of a child who had done nothing but show up and exist in Black skin.

Shaniah later asked her mom:

“Why didn’t she hug me?”

Because Nadia Boucher is the kind of woman who thinks her racism is too subtle to get caught.

But It Gets Worse:

When the family spoke up? The studio didn't apologize.

They kicked the child out.
They kicked her siblings out.
They called the mother “aggressive.”

The entire system circled the wagons around a mediocre white woman who couldn’t be bothered to treat a Black child with human decency onstage—and punished the family for refusing to stay silent.

This isn’t an isolated case.
This is the white playbook.
This is how Black kids get broken in public, then told they’re overreacting in private.

Let’s Talk About the Real Crime:

This is why integration without protection is bullshit.

Black parents—rightfully trying to get their kids “the best”—enroll them in white spaces, hoping access equals safety.
But behind every elite dance program, every “prestigious” school, every polished brochure with a sprinkle of diversity... there’s a Nadia. Or ten.

And it’s not just about hugs. It’s about messaging.

“You don’t belong.”
“You’re not like the rest.”
“You’ll always be the afterthought.”

That is the internal monologue planted in Black kids by white educators who smile in your face and erase you on stage.

And Let’s Be Real About the Bigger Threat:

This woman is not just a dance coach.
She’s a special education teacher in Simsbury Public Schools.
Let that sink in.

Because if she’s this comfortable showing open, unapologetic bias on a stage with cameras rolling—what the fuck do you think she’s doing behind classroom doors?
To neurodivergent Black kids?
To children who already live under a microscope, only to be met with racist indifference disguised as “discipline” or “structure”?

You think this is about a hug?
This is about harm with institutional access.
This is about giving someone with obvious bias the power to shape how vulnerable children are treated—and then acting shocked when the results are trauma in therapy and kids who grow up thinking they're defective.

🎤 FINAL VERDICT:

So to Nadia Boucher—the racist dance teacher at Dance Xpressions in Plainville, Connecticut,
who also masquerades as a special education teacher at Simsbury Public Schools...

I want to give you the loudest, most unapologetic, permanently archived:

FUCK. YOU.

You don’t get to hide behind job titles and fake smiles after emotionally gutting a child on stage.
You don’t get to be entrusted with the care of any student—especially not those most at risk—and walk away like none of this happened.
You don’t get to be the face of public humiliation and private pain, and still cash checks signed in the name of “education.”

Congratulations!

Your name is now immortalized on the F.Y.P.
You earned it.
And we won’t let people forget.

Anti-Cult Central | Subscribe for access to all F.Y.P. posts

What If Your Life Was All Part Of The Plan?

Before you had a choice, you had a script. into—groups with secret handshakes and brainwashed followers who “can’t think for themselves.”
You think a cult has to look like a compound, have a leader, demand rituals and oaths.
You think you’d know if you were in one.

But the most dangerous cults don’t need walls, uniforms, or pledges of loyalty.
They don’t need to trap you in a compound.
They just need to convince you that you were never trapped at all.

That’s the cult you were born into.
Not just your family.
Not just your school.
Not just society.

The entire structure of your life—from the moment you took your first breath—was designed to turn you into someone who follows the script without even realizing there was a script to begin with.

And the best part?
They made you believe it was your choice.

The Birthright Betrayal: Only the Beginning

You own, they handed you over—to a system that already knew what box to put you in.

That wasn’t a birth.
It was a branding.

They call it a “birth certificate,” but let’s not lie to ourselves—
It’s not a record of life.
It’s a receipt.

A timestamp. If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, they didn’t want to hear about it. No myths. No secondhand revelations. Just the now.

So when Everett told them about Jesus, they asked:

“Have you seen him?”

“No.”

“Do you know anyone who has?”

Still no.

And then they said the only thing that mattered:

“We’re good.”

No fight.
No debate.
No dramatic refusal.

Just calm, complete non-need.

The Collapse of a Missionary

That moment broke him.

Not because they hated him.
Not because they kicked him out.
But because they didn’t need what he offered.
Because his entire identity was built on being the one with the answer.
And they didn’t ask a question.

He spent 30 years trying to change them—and in the end, it was he who changed.

He lost his faith.
His mission.
His marriage.
His God.
His story.

The Pirahã didn’t resist his belief.
They just lived outside of it.
And that was more threatening than any rebellion.

The Pirahã Got to Say No. Black People Didn’t.

That’s the difference.

White America loves to pretend that all contact was consensual. “represent” the race while also proving that your Blackness isn’t the only reason you’re in business. You have to be exceptional but not too successful. Relatable but not struggling. Professional but not “whitewashed.” And somehow, the people judging you the hardest? Are the very people who are supposed to be your community.

And that’s where the mindfuck really begins.

Why Don’t We Trust Our Own Businesses?

Let’s start with the most uncomfortable truth in this whole conversation:

A lot of us—myself included—have internalized the idea that Black businesses aren’t as professional.

I hate that it’s true, but I know you’ve felt it too. The hesitation. The quick Google search to check for reviews. The extra bit of skepticism when booking a service. The worry about whether the experience will be “on point” or if you’re about to get hit with an unprofessional, “Oh, my bad. I’ll get back to you soon.”

And before anybody tries to deny it, let’s just be real for a second:

If a white-owned business screws up, we still go back.

If a Black-owned business screws up once, we’re out.

If a white business has mediocre service, it’s just “eh, that place is mid.”

If a Black business has mediocre service, it’s “That’s why I don’t mess with Black businesses.”

Why is the bar different?

And more importantly, why are we more comfortable taking risks on white businesses than we are with our own?

Because white businesses—even the shitty ones—already have legitimacy. They don’t have to prove they belong in the game. They just exist, and people assume they know what they’re doing. Meanwhile, we’re out here fighting to be seen as “real” businesses in the first place.

The DEI Paradox: Why Blind Support is Insulting

This is where things get messy as hell. Because while I fully believe that we should support each other, I also think blind loyalty is patronizing.

If I only shop with you because you’re Black, I’m not treating you like a business—I’m treating you like a cause.

That’s what they do with DEI. That’s why people think diversity hires are bullshit. Because in their minds, it’s never about skill—it’s about filling a quota. And yet, we turn around and apply that same logic to Black businesses. “Go support them! They’re Black!” No mention of quality. No mention of expertise. Just Blackness.

And that shit does not help us.

It makes our businesses feel like charity cases instead of legitimate competitors.

It lowers the bar for what’s considered “good” service.

It reinforces the stereotype that we can’t stand on our own merit.

Would you feel proud if someone only hired you because they needed a Black face in the room? No? Then why the fuck would we apply that same weak-ass energy to our businesses?

We don’t need charity. We need trust.

The Catch-22: Black Success is Always a Problem

But let’s say a Black business does everything right. They’re polished, professional, top-tier. They’re killing it. Do they finally get to just exist? Nope. Because now they’ve got a new problem:

They’re “too successful.”

If a Black business stays small? “They need more funding, more support.”

If a Black business grows fast? “They’re selling out, they’re going corporate.”

If a Black business caters mostly to Black customers? “They’re limiting themselves.”

If a Black business caters to everybody? “They don’t care about their own people.”

What the actual fuck do y’all want?

We watch white businesses scale all the time and nobody says shit. Nobody calls Starbucks a “white-owned coffee shop.” But let a Black-owned company hit big numbers, and suddenly, it’s a problem. Suddenly, they’re “leaving the community behind.”

So let’s be clear: Black businesses are not obligated to stay accessible to make you comfortable. If a company expands and you feel abandoned, that’s a you problem.

What’s the Solution? The One Thing We Never Do

So what’s the answer? How do we fix this?

We act like every other community and just normalize trusting our own people.

No extra announcements. No forced loyalty pledges. No weird guilt trips. Just buy the shit you like and move the fuck on.

That’s how other communities operate. They don’t scream “support Asian businesses!” They just go to them without hesitation. They don’t require their businesses to be perfect before they trust them. They don’t feel the need to qualify why they shop within their own community.

They just do it.

And that’s what we need to do:

Normalize trusting our own people without hesitation.

Normalize second chances. Stop dropping Black businesses over one bad experience while giving white businesses endless grace.

Normalize constructive critique. Stop acting like accountability is an attack.

Normalize Black success. Stop expecting Black-owned businesses to stay small just because it makes you feel better.

Normalize high standards. We don’t need to settle for subpar just to be supportive.

And above all else, stop making this shit so complicated.

Some of y’all spend more time debating why you should or shouldn’t support Black businesses than it would take to just buy the damn thing and keep it moving.

That’s the real problem. The fact that this is even a discussion when it should just be a natural practice.

So no, I’m not about to beg people to support Black businesses. I’m done with the think pieces. I’m done with the excuses.

I’ll do what makes sense. You do what makes sense. And if that doesn’t involve buying Black? At least be honest about why.

If this hit home for you, stick around. By the time you’ve jumped through all their hoops, you’re left asking, “Who even am I?” But here’s the truth: you don’t owe anyone an answer. You’re not here to fit their expectations or mold yourself into what they want. This isn’t about “finding yourself”—it’s about taking yourself back, unapologetically.

What Radical Change Actually Means

Radical change isn’t about playing nice or adjusting to fit their rules. It’s about refusing to carry their lies any longer. It’s not always easy—freedom never is—but it’s yours to take. And the alternative? Staying stuck in their bullshit forever. That’s not living. That’s just getting by. And you deserve better.

Unlearning Their Rules

The first step is letting go of the crap they’ve drilled into you about who you are and what you need. They’ve spent your whole life trying to convince you:

“You’re too much.” Translation: you’re not small enough to make them comfortable.
“You’re not enough.” Translation: they demand so much conformity they don’t even know what enough looks like.
“You need to improve.” Translation: make yourself easier for them to handle.

Here’s the truth: you don’t need to fix yourself—you need to unlearn the lies. This isn’t about becoming “better.” It’s about letting yourself be exactly who you are.

Redefining Success

Most people stay stuck because they’re still chasing the system’s definition of success, even while trying to escape it. But you can’t break free if you’re using their yardstick to measure your life. It’s time to redefine success in a way that’s yours, and yours alone.

Is it working less and living more? Owning your time? Feeling free to do whatever the hell you want? Whatever it looks like to you, that’s the only version that matters. Anything else is noise.

Reclaiming Your Voice

When was the last time you made a decision without stopping to wonder, “What will they think?” If you can’t remember, that’s the problem. Your voice isn’t here to please, apologize, or explain—it’s here to say what you need, want, and feel. Loud, sharp, and unapologetic.

Stop apologizing for what makes you different.

Stop softening your edges so they feel comfortable.

Stop asking for permission to exist.

Your voice doesn’t need to be fixed, adjusted, or silenced—it just needs to be yours. Reclaim it, not for anyone else, but because it feels like freedom when you do.

Finding Your People

Radical change doesn’t happen in isolation, but that doesn’t mean it’s about anyone else. It’s about finding people who let you be loud, messy, and fully yourself—people who don’t demand explanations or smaller versions of you.

Look for those who value honesty over appearances.

Find the ones who celebrate your quirks instead of tolerating them.

And stop wasting time on relationships that make you feel like you need to shrink, mask, or explain. Your people aren’t the ones who fix you—they’re the ones who make it clear you don’t need fixing. That’s all you should ever expect.

Why It’s Worth the Chaos

Let’s get one thing straight: reclaiming your identity isn’t supposed to be neat. It’s going to get messy, uncomfortable, and full of moments where you question everything. That’s not a problem—that’s proof you’re breaking free.

Chaos isn’t something to avoid; it’s something to embrace. Every moment you choose yourself over their rules is a crack in the cage they built for you. It’s uncomfortable, sure—but that’s what freedom feels like when you’re finally creating it for yourself.

The Big Takeaway

Reclaiming your identity isn’t just about rejecting the system—it’s about rebuilding yourself in a way that feels true. It’s about letting go of their lies, their metrics, and their judgment and replacing them with your truth, your values, and your voice.

And here’s the thing: when you do that, you don’t just change yourself—you start to change the world. Because every time you step into your authentic self, you give someone else permission to do the same. That’s how revolutions start.

Let’s take this into What Real Freedom Looks Like next. Because it’s not just about breaking free—it’s about what you do once you’re free.

The Takeaway Manifesto: Burn the System, Reclaim Yourself
This is it. Everything we’ve explored—the lies, the control, the expectations—has led us here. It’s time to burn the system down, not to fix it, but to free yourself. This isn’t about rebuilding something for the world. It’s about reclaiming everything they tried to take from you and making it yours.

Step 1: Recognize the Bullshit
The system isn’t sacred. It’s not even functional—it’s a dumpster fire of outdated rules designed to keep you small and compliant. From the moment you were born, you’ve been fed lies:
“This is the way it’s always been.” So what? If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t matter.
“You have to fit in to succeed.” No, you don’t. Their version of success was never meant to include you.
“You need to improve to be worthy.” Stop. You’re already worthy—they just don’t want you to know it.
Recognizing the system for what it is—a desperate machine clinging to control—is the first step to freedom. Once you see the bullshit, you’ll never unsee it.

Step 2: Unmask Yourself
*Who are you without their rules? The system has spent your life trying to shrink you, silence you, and tell you you’re too messy to matter. But that mask they made you wear? It was never yours.
Ask yourself:

What feels like freedom, even if no one else gets it?

What lights you up, not because they said you should care, but because it matters to you?

Who are you when you stop performing?
Then start small:

Let yourself screw up, change your mind, and be inconsistent.

Embrace the quirks they told you to hide—they’re not flaws; they’re you.

Speak in your own voice, even if it shakes. Even if it pisses them off.*

Step 3: Break the Chains of Conformity
*You don’t owe anyone your compliance. Not your boss. Not your family. Not society. They’ve spent so much time making you think that prioritizing yourself is selfish, but let’s get real: selfishness is survival.

Say No to Their Metrics: Success isn’t about being productive, praised, or “professional.” It’s about creating a life that actually feels like yours.

Reject Their Norms: You don’t have to be small, quiet, or palatable. Take up all the space they said you couldn’t have. Be too much.

Tear It Down: Stop pretending their broken systems deserve your energy. Let them crumble while you build something that works—for you.*

Step 4: Reclaim Your Freedom
*Freedom isn’t about escaping—it’s about owning. It’s about deciding what matters to you and refusing to settle for less.

Define Your Success: Forget their checklists. What feels good? What works for you? That’s your measure of success.

Find Your People: Not the ones who “tolerate” you—the ones who get you. The ones who celebrate you being unapologetically yourself.

Start Living on Your Terms: Freedom isn’t something you owe the world. It’s something you owe yourself. No explanations. No apologies.*

The Manifesto in Action
*This isn’t a rant—it’s a reclamation. Let’s make one thing clear:

You’re not the problem. The system is.

You don’t need fixing. You need freedom.

You don’t owe anyone an explanation. You don’t owe them your compliance. And you sure as hell don’t owe them your peace.*

The Final Takeaway
The system was never going to serve you. Its rules, its expectations, its version of success—they were never meant to help you thrive. But you don’t have to follow their script. You can break every rule, burn every lie, and build something that feels real.
This isn’t about fixing what’s broken. It’s about reclaiming everything that’s already yours—your time, your energy, your freedom.

The chaos?

That’s just part of the deal.

Messy, loud, and free is the only way to live.
So stop asking, stop apologizing, and stop waiting.

Take it all back.
Not for them.
Not for the world.
For you.

That’s enough.

Let’s go.

When Inclusion Comes with a Rulebook

True inclusion should mean embracing difference, not demanding assimilation. groups. Conformity doesn’t hit everyone the same way. If you’re Black, brown, queer, neurodivergent, poor, or carrying any identity that doesn’t scream “default setting,” you’re not just asked to conform—you’re demanded to do it. Twice the pressure, half the grace.

The Double Bind: Be Everything, But Be Invisible

When you exist at the intersection of multiple marginalized identities, the rules aren’t just harder—they’re rigged. You’re expected to play a game that wasn’t built for you, and then blamed when you don’t win. Here’s how the system stacks the deck:

You’re Expected to Assimilate:

If you’re a person of color, you’ve likely been told to tone down your culture to fit into predominantly white spaces. No loud hair, no “unprofessional” language, no expressing your anger. You’re expected to make everyone around you comfortable while suffocating yourself in the process.

If you’re queer, they want your identity to be palatable. “We love Pride Month! But maybe don’t talk about the rest of the year?”

You’re Denied Individuality:

Marginalized people are treated as monoliths. If you step outside their narrow, pre-approved idea of what your identity “should” look like, you’re met with resistance. Too Black, not Black enough. Too queer, not queer enough. It’s a never-ending cycle of judgment.

You’re Asked to Perform Emotional Labor:

You’re expected to educate others about your struggles while navigating the very systems oppressing you. It’s exhausting. How can you figure out who you are when you’re constantly explaining your humanity to others?

The Impact on Identity

The weight of these expectations doesn’t just shape how the world sees you—it distorts how you see yourself. You spend so much time adapting, code-switching, and walking on eggshells that you lose touch with who you are underneath it all.

Fragmented Identity: When you’re forced to be one person at work, another at home, and someone else entirely in social settings, it’s no wonder you feel disconnected. Who’s the real you?

Internalized Oppression: The constant pressure to conform can make you start questioning your worth. “Maybe I really am too much. Maybe I should just try harder to fit in.”

Burnout: The mental gymnastics of masking and navigating systemic oppression take a toll. It’s not just emotional—it’s physical. And it’s unsustainable.

What Inclusivity Actually Looks Like

Let’s be clear: inclusivity isn’t about giving marginalized people a seat at the table. It’s about building a new table. One where people don’t have to mute themselves to belong. Here’s what that could look like:

Flexibility Over Conformity:

Stop expecting people to fit into rigid boxes. A truly inclusive system adapts to the people it serves, not the other way around.

Diversity Without Tokenism:

Inclusion isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about amplifying diverse voices without asking them to dilute their authenticity.

Support Without Strings:

Don’t make inclusivity conditional. People shouldn’t have to prove their worth or over-perform to justify their presence.

The Freedom to Be Fully Seen

Here’s the thing: society says it loves diversity, but only when it’s convenient. Real inclusivity isn’t convenient—it’s uncomfortable. It forces us to confront the ways we’ve upheld systems of exclusion, even unintentionally. But that discomfort? That’s where growth happens.

When people are free to exist as their whole selves—messy, complex, and unapologetic—it doesn’t just change their lives. It changes the world. Because the more we make space for authenticity, the less room there is for bullshit.

The Role of Education: Conformity, Not Creativity

From the moment you walk into a classroom, the message is clear: Your job isn’t to think—it’s to comply. Sit still, be quiet, raise your hand if you want to speak. Don’t challenge the teacher. Don’t color outside the lines. And if you can’t follow these rules? You’re labeled a problem. Welcome to your first lesson in societal expectations.

What They’re Really Teaching

Obedience Over Curiosity:

You’re rewarded for following instructions, not for asking hard questions. The system doesn’t want thinkers—it wants doers. The kind of people who’ll clock in, shut up, and follow orders.

Curiosity is only encouraged when it fits their script. Ask “why” too many times and you’ll get labeled disruptive.

Uniformity Over Individuality:

Everyone is expected to learn the same way, at the same pace, in the same environment. If that doesn’t work for you, tough luck. Adjust or fail.

This approach doesn’t just ignore diversity—it actively punishes it. Neurodivergent kids, creative thinkers, and anyone who doesn’t fit the mold get left behind.

Punishment Over Adaptation:

Can’t sit still? Fidget too much? Talk out of turn? Instead of adapting the system to meet your needs, they punish you into submission. Detention, bad grades, constant reprimands—they make you feel like you are the problem.

The Masking Starts Here

School is where you learn to hide. It’s where you’re first taught that being yourself is dangerous. Maybe you were the kid who talked too much, or the one who couldn’t focus, or the one who asked “Why does it matter?” one too many times. And the system didn’t adjust to you—it crushed you until you adjusted to it.

How That Affects Identity

Early Conditioning: By the time you’re an adult, masking feels like second nature because you’ve been doing it your whole life. You don’t even realize you’re performing—it’s just how you survive.

Self-Doubt: If the system told you you were a problem, you internalize that. You start questioning your worth, your abilities, and your right to exist as you are.

Loss of Creativity: You stop taking risks, experimenting, or thinking outside the box because you’ve been trained to prioritize the “right” answer over your own ideas.

What’s the Endgame?

Let’s not pretend this is accidental. The education system was never designed to foster individuality—it was built to create obedient workers. Look at its history:

The Industrial Model: Schools were literally modeled after factories. Bell schedules, rows of desks, standardized tests—all designed to churn out workers who could function in assembly-line jobs.

Control, Not Growth: The goal wasn’t to help you become the best version of yourself—it was to make you productive, compliant, and easy to manage.

Rebuilding Education: What It Could Be

If education weren’t stuck in the 19th century, here’s what it might look like:

Self-Awareness as a Core Subject:

Teach kids to understand their emotions, their strengths, and their needs. Make “Who are you?” just as important as “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

Adaptability Over Standardization:

Scrap the one-size-fits-all approach. Let kids learn in ways that work for them—whether that’s hands-on, through discussion, or by exploring their interests.

Respect for Neurodiversity:

Stop treating neurodivergent kids like they’re broken. Build classrooms that embrace different ways of thinking and teach kids to celebrate their quirks, not hide them.

The Big Question: Whose Expectations Are You Living Up To?

Here’s where the rant comes full circle: education doesn’t just teach you how to function in the world—it teaches you whose expectations matter. And spoiler: it’s not yours. By the time you graduate, you’re so trained to meet their standards that you forget to ask yourself: What are my expectations for me?

Reclaiming Your Expectations

Start Questioning the Script: Are the goals you’re chasing really yours, or are they just what you’ve been told to want?

Redefine Success: Stop measuring yourself by their yardstick. Success doesn’t have to look like a degree, a 9-to-5, or a white-picket fence. It can look like whatever the hell you want it to.

Get Loud About What You Need: You don’t owe anyone quiet compliance. If the system isn’t working for you, demand better. And if they won’t listen? Build your own damn system.

The Takeaway

Education isn’t just a system—it’s a training ground for conformity. But just because you grew up in it doesn’t mean you have to stay stuck in it. Rip off the mask, unlearn the bullshit, and start asking: What do I want? What works for me? What’s my truth?

Because the best lesson you’ll ever learn didn’t come from a classroom—it came from finally letting yourself be exactly who you are.

You’ve spent your life walking a tightrope they built for you, balancing their expectations and wondering why the ground never feels steady. Ripping off the mask and torching their script sounds like freedom—and it is. But freedom doesn’t erase centuries of control. Because conformity didn’t just show up one day—it was engineered. Built piece by piece, not to help you thrive, but to keep you small, compliant, and controlled. The real question isn’t just how you reclaim yourself—it’s how we dismantle the entire damn system.

That’s another story. But it’s about time we told it.
<div class="digest-post-embed" data-attrs="{"nodeId":"fa66bf28-47b0-482b-9d00-d45446007064","caption":"The system doesn’t just steal your time and energy—it steals you. By the time you’ve jumped through all their hoops, you’re left asking, “Who even am I?” But here’s the truth: you don’t owe anyone an answer. You’re not here to fit their expectations or mold yourself into what they want. you. And I stand by that wholeheartedly. However, let's stop pretending that’s easily done. And what kind of asshole am I to think I can just tell you to be yourself and you can just go out and do it. How the hell are you supposed to be able to do that when there’s a possibility you’ve never been allowed to be yourself. You don’t know what you need because no one ever gave you the chance to figure it out. Instead, you got handed a script titled “How to Be Palatable in Society” and told to memorize it or face the consequences.

And spoiler: the script is garbage. It’s full of contradictory instructions like:

Be confident, but not too confident.

Be unique, but not too weird.

Stand out, but only in ways that make them comfortable.

And somewhere in all that noise, the real you got shoved into a corner and told to shut up.

The Gaslighting Machine: How They Keep You Lost

Hide Who You Are: From the moment you’re old enough to form a personality, the system starts editing it. You’re “too much” or “not enough.” You’re a “problem” that needs fixing. So, you learn to mask, to shrink, to fit in. And after years of performing, you forget where the mask ends and you begin.

Blame You for Not Fitting In: The thing is, when you can’t conform, they make you feel like the broken one. Like it’s your fault you can’t sit still in school or delegate tasks at work when your brain works in a way they’ll never understand. It’s not their outdated framework—it’s you. Or so they’d have you believe.

Keep You Busy Surviving: When you’re spending all your energy masking, adapting, and second-guessing yourself, there’s no room left for self-discovery. They don’t want you asking, “Who am I?” because that might lead to you saying, “Wait, why the hell am I following their rules?”

Welcome to the Identity Crisis: Population, All of Us

If you’re sitting there wondering, “Who the fuck even am I?” congratulations, you’ve arrived at the inevitable result of living in a system that rewards conformity and punishes individuality. It’s not a fun place to be, but you’re not alone.

Here’s What That Looks Like:

Imposter Syndrome: Every success feels like a fluke because you achieved it while pretending to be someone you’re not. You don’t trust your wins because deep down, you don’t trust you.

Fear of Authenticity: Showing your true self feels risky as hell. What if people don’t like it? What if they reject you? It’s easier to keep the mask on, even if it’s suffocating.

Analysis Paralysis: When your whole life has been about meeting other people’s expectations, you forget how to make decisions for yourself. What do you want? Who knows? You’ve been so busy trying to make them happy, you forgot to ask.

How Do You Reclaim Yourself?

Reclaiming your identity is like trying to find the pieces of a puzzle after someone tossed it into a hurricane. It’s messy. It’s frustrating. But it’s also the only way forward.

Step 1: Stop Apologizing

First things first: the system is bullshit, and so are its rules. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for who you are, why you do things differently, or why you’ve decided to stop caring about their approval.

Step 2: Ask the Hard Questions

Who am I without their expectations?

What makes me feel alive, even if it doesn’t make sense to anyone else?

What’s mine, and what’s just something I was told to care about?

Step 3: Get Comfortable With the Mess

Here’s the thing: figuring out who you are isn’t a clean process. You’re going to try things, fail spectacularly, and change your mind a dozen times. That’s not weakness—that’s growth. Identity isn’t static, and anyone who tells you otherwise is lying or boring.

The Big Takeaway

You’re not lost because you’re broken. You’re lost because the system worked exactly as designed: to keep you doubting, performing, and conforming. The good news? You don’t have to stay lost. You can rip off the mask, torch their script, and start writing your own.

And yeah, it’s scary. But it’s also liberating as hell. Because once you stop living for them, you start living for you. And that’s when things get real.

Only, they don’t actually want you to find yourself. Because a person who knows who they are is a person who stops being easy to control.

And when you stop playing by their rules, they don’t just step aside. They push back. Part 2 is about what happens next.

<div class="digest-post-embed" data-attrs="{"nodeId":"9c03443d-17a6-4a3d-a758-f97a13b6a4d1","caption":"If society’s bullshit wasn’t enough for you on its own, let’s talk about how it doubles down on marginalized groups.
